Overcoming Self-Doubt and Building Self-Confidence
I often find myself on both sides of the camera, but boy, do I HATE being in front of it.
Overcoming self-doubt and building confidence in front of the camera is something I had to learn and still takes practice to this day.
It's natural to feel self-doubt, especially when you're the one being filmed or photographed. But here's the secret: confidence is a skill, and it CAN be practiced.
Here's my advice to those who feel uncomfortable in front of the camera:
Tip #1: Preparation is your friend
Knowing what to expect can help with any anxiety. Discuss the shoot with your photographer/videographer in advance, plan your outfits and practice poses!
Tip #2: Deep breaths
It helps to calm the nerves! Remember, it's always okay to take breaks during a shoot to reset and recharge. Zero pressure! You want to present your most comfortable self on camera.
Tip #3: Be yourself
Instead of worrying about how you look, concentrate on letting your personality shine through. Authenticity makes you relatable and engaging.
Tip #4: Trust your team
Surround yourself with people who care! Bonus if they’re professionals from Dom Productions *wink wink*. We work hard to understand your vision and guide you, and work with you through any of those shoot anxieties.
Last but not least - practice, practice, practice! The more you're in front of the camera, the more comfortable you'll become. I promise.
